7 Crochet Ideas and Free Patterns for Mother’s Day Gifts!

Every year we try to find or make the perfect gift for mom. If you are thinking of making her a gift for Sunday, there is still plenty of time! Here are some crochet-inspired ideas I found that I just love for this year. See if you can find one that your mom would love!

1.) A light summer spring/summer shawl. This simple shawl made with Caron Simply Soft is light and feminine and your mama will be proud to wear this gorgeous thing all season, bragging that you made it for her! The yarn is easy to find and it looks like it works up pretty quickly for a shawl! Click the photo to get the free pattern!

2.) Crochet mom a spa set!!! Now the photo here is linked to 4 free patterns but think how much more you could do with this! Crochet her a spa basket to keep her things in, or make her a shower mitt instead of scrubbies (some moms have arthritis and holding washcloths can be painful). You could even make up a matching headband for her to keep her hair out of her face! Make or buy up some face masks, bath salts, essential oils and you have a complete spa day for mom!!!

3.) Crochet mom some slippers! My mother has hardwood floors and even in the summer when the air conditioning is on, slippers are nice to have around the house! Older moms will definitely appreciate this no matter what season! As a mom myself, I know I go through slippers quickly and I can always use another pair. A pair that my daughter made!? Priceless!!!! This photo was my favorite pair, but you can link to 14 free slipper patterns here!!!

4.) Make mom a sunglasses case for her car or her purse! The sun is on its way back and you can personalize these in so many ways … let your imagination run wild! If you crochet one with cotton yarn, you could even iron on a cute applique! Go ahead and make her two so she can keep her reading glasses in one as well! The link will take you to the pattern as well as a pattern for a matching sun hat!

5.) Planning on taking mom to festivals and fairs and markets this summer? Make her a completely customized boho bag decorated with her style for your outings. With a crossbody bag, she can be hands free and enjoy the festivities. Of course I’m including my own pattern but there are plenty out there to choose from!

6.) If you’ve never thought of branching out and crocheting some wire for jewelry …. you should! It looks super fun and lets us hookers use beads!!!! This photo will link you to a nice introduction to using wire for crochet items. But wouldn’t mom be surprised if you brought her a necklace this year instead of something made with yarn!? Definitely try it out, maybe you’ll find a whole new craft you love!

7.) Now, while I’ve definitely wanted to explore wall hangings, I haven’t really seen PATTERNS for them, rather just ideas? I know many people use looms and macrame but this is one example of a crochet wall hanging …. wouldn’t it be fun to try one out for a small space that mom needs to fill? Why not do some tiered crochet, add some beads and block/starch that baby and see what you can make!?

Even if you don’t choose to make mom anything, I hope you remember to spoil her on this day! We moms enjoy celebrating motherhood and especially love what our kids make for us! Be sure she doesn’t have to cook, clean, or take care of anyone this Sunday! Give her a day of rest!

Enjoy celebrating Mothers this weekend and….

Happy Hooking, Hookers!!!
