Welcome to Fall/Winter 2025!!!

We here at ‘Ohana Boutique have been on an unintended hiatus for a bit; life happens. Kids growing up and graduating, day job duties became a priority (in a good way), and the yarn got put away. But it’s back out, just ask my husband! (poor soul).

We are excited to be updating the e-commerce on our website to be managed by yours truly! (bear with me) Easier to manage myself without any rules – I’m a rebel. It’s slow going while I navigate this platform, but some things are available on the Shop The Boutique page now. Mostly wanted to get my poms listed for my fellow pom lovers this season!

Speaking of this season, is everyone as behind as I am this year!? I’m having a blast, but I feel like I keep getting distracted by shiny things instead of creating! New beanie brewing on my hooks … loving the pattern, will definitely be writing it down.

My biggest challenge has been the loss of Joann’s to be honest. I didn’t realize how much I would miss their product lines! Any leads on where to buy LaMode buttons, I’m all ears! My rhinestone snowflakes …. my precious snowflake beanies! I’m combing the internet and buying all I can find but darn it! The struggle is real. I will say, it has moved me to spend more with my local yarn shop, so …. it’s good for the small shops and I heartily encourage you to give them your business! For some other regular things I can’t live without, I order from these sites:

Yarnspirations WEBS Wool & Co Lion Brand Yarn

While we excitedly anticipate the announcement of Pantone’s Color of The Year for 2026, we can focus on making things for this season in the lovely Mocha Mousse for 2025!!! Now, this color is a tricky one, as I’ve found; you can’t just buy brown yarn and call it good. So I have compiled a few favorites that I have found (and some you may already have in your stash) here:

1.) Now I know I’m starting out with something controversial, if you boycott them, skip this one; I support you. Hobby Lobby’s ‘Yarn ID’ in Café au lait is an affordable and accessible worsted weight yarn for projects. Click the photo to link to the product.

2.) Next is Berroco’s Modern Cotton and this shade is nearly perfect! I do use cotton for several projects, and this one is on my wish list! Click her to read more!

3.) This one breaks my heart a little, it’s getting so hard to find! If you see it in a store, snatch it up! I did, however, find it on Amazon! What? Lion Brand Scarfie in ‘Taupe’ is a beautiful nod to this years color, though not a perfect match. But the neutrality is there and …. my customers love anything I make with this colorway!

4.) Sticking with Lion Brand, I love Go for Faux! I use it as an accent on my Fuzz Gloves and their ‘Pomeranian’ color is a perfect accent to bring in this year’s color. Now I have a project for tonight!

5.) I love Cascade yarns, they’re so soft and squishy and such affordable fine wool. Their ‘Doeskin Heather’ would be beautiful for fashion makes this season. Easy to find in small shops here in the Northwest, but equally available online!

6.) A chunky wool? Of course I’ve got one of those! These are gorgeous and with several shades that will pair with this ‘Mocha’ shade, you could create a beautiful gift for someone special or …. for yourself!

7.) Finally, for those of us who need color …. what about this gorgeous cake from Caron that would coordinate beautifully with our color of the year? Not an expensive yarn, but aren’t these colors gorgeous!?

Whatever your projects this season, these are a fun jumping off point to get you thinking about the colors in your palette! Next time, we’ll talk about some new patterns to try! You know how much I love new crochet fashion!

Until then, Happy Hooking!
