Ku’uipo means ‘sweetheart’ in Hawaiian and because these colors remind me of those Valentine candy hearts …. we decided to name her after everyone’s second favorite winter holiday!
This is a very basic pattern that I came up with last minute for craft fairs when so many things were selling out 🙂 And these girls nearly did as well!! I’m sharing it here as a free pattern because it’s a nice beginner hat, and can be made on repeat easily for my fellow hookers. We used a rhinestone snowflake, but this hat can easily be customized with any button or charm on the brim. Grab your hooks and let’s get to it!
Stitches Used
sl st – insert hook into required stitch, pull loop through stitch and through the loop on your hook
hdc – yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook to complete the stitch
fphdc – yarn over, insert hook from front behind the post of the stitch from the previous row and work your hdc as described above but around the post
bphdc – yarn over, insert hook from behind, in front of the post of the stitch from the previous row and work hyour hdc as described above but around the post
