This was an unexpected project that wasn’t actually intended to be this at all! I was pleasantly surprised and as always, these things sometimes just create themselves 🙂 So grab your hooks and let’s dive into this beauty!

Materials

1 Size H (5.00mm) Crochet Hook

1 Skein Yarn Bee Ethereal Eyelash yarn in ‘Dusty Rose’*

1 Skein Yarn Bee Ethereal Eyelash yarn in ‘Oat’

1 Skein Yarn Bee Ethereal Eyelash yarn in ‘Ivory’

Large Pearl beads as you prefer or any buttons you would like to embellish your cowl with to make it your own.

*Any Weight 5 Yarn will do! I use these yarns because they’re so buttery, silky soft but …. any of your favorite yarns to use an H hook with …. should work with this pattern!

Stitches Used:

ch – Chain

DC – Double Crochet

BLO – work your stitch in the back loop only of the stitch from the previous row

Directions

Ch 26

Row 1: DC in 3rd ch from hook, DC in each st to end, ch 2, turn (24 Stitches)

Rows 2-10: DC in BLO of each st to end, ch 2, turn (24 st)

Change Colors if Desired

Rows 11-20: DC in BLO of each st to end, ch 2, turn (24 st)

Change Colors if Desired

Rows 21-30: DC in BLO of each st to end, ch 2, turn (24 st)

Change Colors if Desired

Rows 31-40: DC in BLO of each st to end, ch 2, turn (24 st)

Change Colors if Desired

Rows 41-50: DC in BLO of each st to end, check length and fit. Add or remove rows if desired (uneven end can be hidden behind when tacking) when you have your desired length: ch 1, cut yarn long enough for sewing, pull through stitch to finish.

Choose the side of your work that will show, then sew in all ends neatly on the ‘wrong side’ of your work.

Lay work in front of you, take both ends and fold them toward the middle, overlapping them so you have a triangle shape in front.

Use small pieces of yarn to take the 2 ends together along the bottom edge in 4 places, the tip of the triangle being where you will tack on your first pearl bead.

Moving up the side, I used 4 pearl beads to take my 2 pieces together, you can use more or less as you like.

When your piece is finished, simply put it over your head and roll it down if you like! Voila!

Customizing these is the fun part! Add fringe along the side with the beads to make a statement, leave the beads off altogether to have a piece that is flat and snug under your favorite coat …. alter that first row for button holes and use buttons…. let your imagination run with it!

Enjoy your new cowl and as always, share your pictures with us on social media!

Happy Hooking, hookers!
